Turning to lurid descriptions for more compassioned readers, the author demands for an American change, rather than a change in the culture to better fit the inhabitants born to it. Another reason that I frown upon the gruesome lives depicted by the author is because such living conditions can be seen not only in Pakistan, but in any country, both wealthy and poor. Instead of describing lives led by the poor, sexually harassed, and victims of sexism, I believe that the author should have concentrated more on the unique aspect of the Islam world. Even though Hosseini did a brilliant job in portraying his views, I cannot but help wonder if he is not being too biased in presenting his opinions.
This view may cause frustration by many who liked and enjoyed the books. However, I argue that I also liked them and am only criticizing the authors style of writing, rather than the scene itself portrayed by the books. Thank you.

Mr. Birdwell and fellow classmates
I hope that you are enjoying a great summer vacation in preparation of another harsh demanding school year. I do not doubt that our diligent classmates will put their best effort to work on both English and Spanish Summer reading homework/project.
However, I wanted to share what I felt about the two books, the Kite Runner and the Thousand Splendid Suns. Despite many laudations from various readers and becoming the best selling novels, I cannot help but disagree in some aspects. I also wanted to know what the readers from CAG would think about my perspective.
Even though historically accurate, I had this feeling that the author, Khaled Hosseini, descended to the worst possible conditions for the protagonists (maybe not the right diction, for a protagonist means a hero, regarding how many characters were rather victims) to experience. I have no doubt that lives were correctly described, such as raping and bodies all over the roads and villages, (for it was, and for others, still is, a war-torn country), but the criticizing of the Islam in the Thousand Splendid Suns for its view and the circumscribed lives of its followers, is too American and Christian; rather than criticizing such beliefs for its harshness and brutality as a view of a Muslim who praises Allah and the Islamic beliefs, the author uses the view of the reader who probably would be a non-Muslim praising U.S.A., and depicts the sexism and other demanding aspects that for a Muslim, is normal.
